A project that was supposed to be just a simple podcast show where two avid BC Olimpija Ljubljana fans would randomly ramble about their favourite sports club, turned out to be much more than just that.
I am a self-taught graphic designer. Quickly after me and my friend started out our podcasting project named Podcast Blokada back in May 2020, I realized I could use my hobby project to learn and improve my graphic design skills.
When you are recording a sports podcast the debate often gets heated. Since we were trying to find a name for our podcast we were looking for a basketball term that could symbolise the action of interrupting someones speech and/or stealing their word. We found similarity in basketball action called "blocked shot" aka denying someones right to speak. First element "Blocking hand" and second element "Basketball" form the "blocked shot" action.
Third element of the logo "Podcast name connected in circle" symbolises our commitment of building a forum community for hardcore basketball fans.
For fonts I use Bebas Neue Pro BOLD as a main font, since we put out a lot of graphics which contain information and Bebas is known to be a very easy to read font. For a second/third font I usually look for a font that has some "rebelious" spirit in it. Most of the time those fonts are handwritten brush fonts. Basically fonts that aren't made "by the rules". This season I decided to use Cactus Jack font.
